Your drain system is essential to removing unwanted liquid waste and excess water from your house. Over time, material such as hair, food, leaves, and other things can build up in your drains and clog them. This leads to damage to the pipe, resulting in expensive repairs. Regular maintenance ensures that your drains stay functional for longer.
It can also help detect any minor issues in your drainage system, reduce blockages, eliminate bad odours, maintain hygiene, fix slow drains, and more.
Emergency plumbing is a service for issues that require immediate attention. For example, a burst pipe flooding the basement in the middle of the night is not something that should be left unaddressed until the next day.
Emergency plumbers will show up no matter what time you call them. They are always on-call and can help you out with a variety of issues.
Every homeowner has made DIY repairs at some point. It’s easier than ever in the days of how-to videos and blogs. However, not every job should be done yourself – there are some things that should only be done by a trained professional. Making mistakes can cost you time and a lot more money, so if you’re not sure if you can do it yourself, it’s best to call a professional plumber.
Plumbers have training and experience to ensure the job is done right. They will be familiar with local codes, can obtain permits, and have the proper tools and training to handle more complex problems.
There are a few things you can check if you have low water pressure.
First, check the strainers on all your faucets to make sure they’re not blocked. They should be removed annually to check for buildup of minerals inside openings.
Check the main valve coming into your home to sure it is completely open.
Check the valve metre to see if it really is open. Sometimes, the valve gets stuck closed even though the handle continues to turn.
If it is open, check to see if the pipes are made of galvanized metal using a magnetic. Galvanized copper is not magnetic.
If the pipes are made of galvanized metal, then it could be caused by calcium and mineral deposits. Older galvanized pipes tend to leech calcium out of the water and attach it to the insides of the pipes, causing buildup and reducing the diameter of the pipes. At that point, the only solution is to replace the pipes.
It is possible with a device called a sewage ejector. This is an 18-gallon basin that sits below the ground. It has a pump grinder with a float that turns on when the water rises to the max level. The pump removes the contents by vacuum and forces the products up to the level of the sewer line. The distance it can travel depends on the power of the pump.
Jetting equipment is a better option for cleaning than snakes. Jets use varying degrees of water pressure to cut through buildup and draw it out so it can be vacuumed up. This provides a more thorough cleaning than snaking. How often you need to jet your lines depends on usage. You should consider getting an inspection and asking your plumber based on your needs.
